When should I apply for childcare?

When you become pregnant, childcare is generally not the first thing on your mind. However, it is recommended that you start looking for a daycare spot when you are pregnant. Every daycare in Ottawa has a waitlist and if you apply when you are pregnant, you will  be on the list for longer, boosting your odds of getting into the Centre of your choosing.

You can say no if you're not ready to accept the daycare spot and ask that they keep your name on the list. Go to Ottawa.ca and click on Family and Social Services to apply to the city waitlist.
